Code of Conduct

Our business is built on long-term consumer trust and fair business practices. Sanoma’s ethical and compliance standards are set out in our Code of Conduct. The Code is an integral part of the Sanoma Way –  the set of shared values that guides how we work and take decisions throughout the Sanoma Group.

The Code acts as an umbrella for other policies, standards and manuals within Sanoma. It covers issues such as data privacy, environment, non-discrimination, anti-harassment, insider trading, corruption and bribery, supply chain integrity, financial reporting and controls, safeguarding company assets, conflicts of interest, and fair competition.

All Sanoma employees are required to apply the Code of Conduct in full in their day-today conduct and business decisions. To ensure compliance with the Code and specific policies, annual training and controls are used. Sanoma has launched a Code of Conduct e-learning, which is compulsory for all employees. In 2018, completion rate of the e-learning was 98% (2017: 98%).

Supplier Code of Conduct

Sanoma’s Supplier Code of Conduct sets out the ethical standards and responsible business principles suppliers are required to comply with in their dealings with Sanoma. The Supplier Code is part of Sanoma’s standard contractual framework and general terms of purchase. Suppliers are expected to apply the principles of the Code also to their employees, affiliates and sub-contractors. More information on Sanoma’s Know Your Counterparty (KYC) process and tool is available on p. 21 in the Annual Review 2018.

Reporting channels

Employees or business partners who have suspicions about violations of the Code of Conduct, or any related policy or law, are encouraged to report their concerns anonymously and in confidence through Sanoma’s externally hosted, independent whistle-blowing hotline https://report.whistleb.com/en/Sanoma.

Sanoma does not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who make reports through the channel. Further guidance for Sanoma employees on the most appropriate reporting channel can be found in our intranet.
