Co-operation negotiations concerning the Sanomapaino print facilities of Saimaan Lehtipaino Oy in Lappeenranta, Sanomala Oy in Vantaa and Hämeen Paino Oy in Forssa have been concluded. The reason for the co-operation negotiations was the decline in Sanomapaino’s production volumes due to the decline of newspaper volumes in the changing operating environment.
The amount of redundancies is lower than estimated, as agreements on local cost-saving arrangements and retirement solutions were reached during the negotiations. In total, 22 employees will be made redundant. The initial estimate was a maximum of 35 redundancies.
“To ensure the competitiveness of Sanomapaino we were unfortunately forced to make difficult decisions and lay off people who have served Sanoma for a long time. The co-operation negotiations were held in a constructive spirit and we were able to find also other solutions for layoffs. Additionally, a support model to facilitate finding new employment was agreed upon,” says Ismo Vuoksio CEO of Sanomapaino
