Today, Sanoma Learning kicks off its Learning Lab at Da Vinci College in Leiden, the Netherlands. The programme brings together an international group of 165 teachers, students, headmasters and Sanoma Learning employees from across five countries. It aims to accelerate the development of innovative learning products using lean start-up methods through co-creation with schools. With its international scope and direct user involvement it is the only one of its kind in the education industry. Launches are also set to take place in partner schools in Belgium, Finland, Poland and Sweden over the next week and a half.
Accelerating innovation in learning
Over the next two months, approximately 30 selected participants in each country will work in groups of three, consisting of a teacher, a student and a Sanoma Learning employee. Armed with tools and expert advice, each group will be tasked with creating and testing an idea from which five concepts will be selected for prototyping at a boot camp in Amsterdam in December.
As Sanoma Learning CEO John Martin explains: “The programme is based around the idea of co-creating for learning impact: creating learning products that will improve learning outcomes, boost student engagement and increase teacher efficiency. The programme is part of our mission to make a positive impact on learning and this approach brings us even closer to the needs of students and schools.”
From ideas to product prototypes
During the boot camp in December, participants will work in small, multidisciplinary teams with Sanoma experts. They will build five working prototypes with the potential of being developed into learning products for use in schools.
