Two of the magazines produced by Sanoma Custom Publishing have again made it to the shortlist of International Content Marketing Awards. The two titles in the running are Focus, which promotes Finland internationally, and Sanoma Magazines Finland’s own personnel magazine, Meidän Media.Getting on the shortlist of the annual International Content Marketing Awards (ICMA) organised by the Association of Publishing Agencies (APA) is an achievement in itself, as the ICMA is the world’s leading forum for recognising excellence in content marketing and attracts entries from publishers and agencies worldwide. The winners of this year’s ICMA will be announced in London on 23 November.Focus on the Economy and Technology 2010 is one of the top five publications competing in the Best Public Sector/Government Title category. An annual publication promoting Finland to a global audience, Focus stands out from other titles thanks to its ambitious magazine style. Focus plays an important part in Finland’s business diplomacy and targets investors and business partners in particular. Featuring a wide range of innovative expertise in its articles, Focus offers readers new perspectives on Finnish business and culture. The title is published by the Finland Promotion Board, backed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Employment and the Economy; Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund; Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation; Invest in Finland; and Finnfacts. Focus is produced in five languages and distributed via Finnish embassies and missions worldwide and by many of Finland’s major companies and organisations internationally. This is not the first time that Focus has received international recognition. Last year, the title won the gold award in the Best Redesign, Custom category of FOLIO’s Eddie and Ozzie Awards. Sanoma Custom Publishing has produced Focus since 2007.Sanoma Magazines Finland’s personnel magazine, Meidän Media, is one of 11 titles on the shortlist in the Best Internal Communication category. Every issue of the magazine is different, as each is designed around a different title from Sanoma Magazines Finland’s extensive portfolio. Three example magazines were submitted to this year’s ICMA, based on Me Naiset, Mikrobitti, and Vauva.Meidän Media was chosen Finland’s number-one personnel magazine in 2009, when it came top of a competition organised by ProCom – the Finnish Association of Communications Professionals.Titles published by Sanoma Custom Publishing have ranked well in the APA awards before. Last year, for example, Kotona, produced for SATO, received an honorary mention in the customer magazine category, and Kemira’s Annual Report was ranked one of the year’s best. In 2009, Exclusive, produced for Stockmann, was one of eight titles shortlisted for best loyal customer magazine. The Association of Publishing Agencies is the representative body for custom publishing professionals in the UK. This year’s ICMA has attracted over 500 participants and is the largest ever, with a total of 27 categories. The recent name change from the International Customer Publishing Awards to the International Content Marketing Awards reflects the on-going shift in the industry towards multiplatform publishing.
