Sanoma News and Sanoma Entertainment will combine their finance and administration functions as of 1 February 2010. The new joint organisation enables better co-operation and sharing of best practices across divisions. The reorganisation will not result into termination of employment, shifts to part-time work or temporary lay-offs.
Both News and Entertainment will continue as independent divisions of the Sanoma Group. Finance and administrative functions (finance, HR, legal affairs and communications) will be operated jointly.
Anu Nissinen, President of Entertainment, and Mikael Pentikäinen, President of News, explain that joining forces will improve co-operation between the two organisations. "Working together will bring us new ways of doing and enable us to share best practices more. I hope that this reorganisation will strengthen our services and ease co-operation between News and Entertainment in other areas as well," Pentikäinen says. "For the personnel in finance and administration, this offers an opportunity to develop their competences and deepen their understanding of the Group, without changing their responsibilities totally, I believe that in longer term, this new way of doing will also improve the quality of services we offer to our business units," Nissinen concludes.
