Nelonen launches a pay TV channel, KinoTV, on 1 September. Programmes of KinoTV consist of movies and series.
"In the future the desired audiences cannot be reached with just one channel. Many different media is needed in order to achieve this objective," says Juha-Pekka Louhelainen, President of Nelonen Media. There are already five channels in Nelonen Media this autumn: the free-to-air channels Nelonen, JIM and Urheilukanava and the pay TV channels Urheilu+kanava and KinoTV.
One of the trends in watching television is the interest in familiar programs. KinoTV will offer for example the popular ER from the first episode, the immemorial Bill Cosby Show and Veronica's Closet. Finnish series like Ou nou from Pirkka-Pekka Petelius and Taneli Mäkelä and drama series Isänmaan toivot are also seen in KinoTV. Channel offers many big movies for example Chaplin, Erase, Mad Max, Fame, Superman and King Kong.
The broadcasting time of KinoTV is daily from 10 am to 4 am. The series begin in prime time at 19:00 and the movies at 20:00. KinoTV can be viewed terrestrially in Canal Digital pay TV packets and in the cable network in different packets offered by cable operators.
Nelonen Media is responsible for the content and the marketing of the channel.
Nelonen Media is part of SWelcom, the electronic media division of the SanomaWSOY Group.
