Sanoma Magazines International, part of the SanomaWSOY Group, has appointed Elena Myasnikova as Chief Executive Officer of Independent Media Sanoma Magazines as of 1 January 2008.
Independent Media Russia was acquired by Sanoma Magazines International in 2005. Derk Sauer, the founder and current CEO of Independent Media, will be appointed as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Independent Media Sanoma Magazines as of 1 January 2008. In addition, he will assist the new CEO, Elena Myasnikova, in her duties and continue to temporarily manage some of the daily operations. Derk Sauer signed a 3-year contract and will devote four days a week to Independent Media Sanoma Magazines.
Elena Myasnikova started her career at Independent Media in 1992. Before her new appointment, she was responsible for the launch and success of such flagship titles as Cosmopolitan, Domashni Ochak and Men's Health, first as Editor-in-Chief and later as publisher of the Cosmo group.
