In the beginning of March, Sanoma's unit for free sheets (Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet) will launch a new paper focusing on city culture. The new paper is called V.
V will start in the Helsinki metropolitan area with a circulation of 85.000. From the end of April, V will also come out in Tampere and Turku, and during next autumn and winter, in seven other cities throughout Finland.
The paper will be available once a month at pick-up points around Helsinki and its surrounding area. The target group includes the young and young minded, active urban people.
- V is an inspiring read, an excellent pastime and a delicious snack. V is a new type of a city paper: funny, free and easy, sexy and turbulent, says Saila-Mari Kohtala, Editor-in-Chief.
V focuses on current events and trends, where to go, interesting people, and expert critics of restaurants, books and movies.
V is a completely refurbished version of Nöjesguiden, which Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet acquired in autumn 2005.
V aims at being No. 1 on the market of pick-up sheets by the year 2008.
- This is a fast growing and a very inspiring market, which has room for a new kind of a modern city paper, says President Niko Ruokosuo.
Besides V, Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet comprises Uutislehti 100, Vartti, Itäväylä (Porvoo region), the Kellokas sheets (Central Uusimaa region), Koillis-Helsingin Lähisanomat, Lappeenrantalainen, and Seiska (Kouvolan region).
Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet Oy is part of the Sanoma division of the SanomaWSOY Group.
