SWelcom starts radio operations with two new channels at the beginning of 2007, as announced earlier. The Supreme Administrative Court has dismissed complaints concerning the allocation of radio frequencies to SWelcom.
The two new radio stations are targeted to different audience. The first one is mainly aimed to urban life-style audience and the second one concentrates on rock music and its phenomena.Both channels cover major part of the Finnish population.
Mr. Kari Laakso has been nominated as the programme director and Mr. Erkka Jaakkola as the sales director for these new channels. Recruitment of the personnel for the radios is in the final stage.
The new radio channels strengthen SWelcom's position as a multi channel company in the field of electronic media. Radio channels are part of Nelonen Media which also includes two advertising financed TV channels: Nelonen (Channel Four Finland) and JIM (to be launched in March 2007).
