The shareholders' agreement, signed by the major shareholders of SanomaWSOY on 14 May 1998, expired on 14 May 2003 pursuant to the agreed five years' duration, and no new such agreement will be signed.
In May 1998 a group of major shareholders of Sanoma Corporation, Werner Söderström Corporation, and Helsinki Media Company Oy signed a shareholders' agreement on the principles of the merger, nomination of the Board of Directors, dividend policy, share transfers, and the operating principles of SanomaWSOY. The agreement and the merger were announced on 15 May 1998.
