Finland's Sports Channel Ltd, Suomen Urheilutelevisio Oy streamlines its operations in order to improve profitability. The streamlining will mean actions in several areas, e.g. production structures, personnel and general costs, as a result of the slower than expected development of the digital television. Investments in programming will not be cut, however.
Negotiations about widening the shareholder structure of the company are continuing. The letter of intent with the earlier announced potential buyer Avanti Broadcasting Oy did not lead into agreement.
Suomen Urheilutelevisio Oy is 35% owned by SWelcom and 50% by MTV. SWelcom is a division of SanomaWSOY Group.
