Sanoma Media Netherlands acquires stake in SB Commerce

Sanoma Media Netherlands is acquiring a stake in e-commerce company SB Commerce. Through its interest in SB Commerce, owner of for instance home deco web shop Voor-thuis.nl, Sanoma strengthens its position in the home deco domain in The Netherlands. Sanoma believes strongly in the value of e-commerce.
“We see a clear new need in the current media/home deco industry that is gaining importance, both with our readers, the visitors of our digital platforms as well as with our business-to-business partners,” says Ard Siekerman, Publisher Home Deco at Sanoma Media Netherlands. “Through our stake in SB Commerce and through our partnerships with (r)etailers we are able to boost the home deco market considerably.”
Increasingly, consumers are getting used to instant gratification: the chair pictured in a home deco magazine or the crockery set at Vtwonen.nl should instantly be ready for shopping. On top of this, business partners use media more and more to generate measurable higher revenue and better results. Accountability is gaining importance. Sanoma Media is meeting these changing demands by continuously investing in product development, creation, innovation and partnerships with web shops and physical stores.
SB Commerce, based in Amersfoort and Leiden (The Netherlands), is a fast-growing full service e-commerce company with more than fifty web stores and a significant reach in home deco products, gadgets and gifts. The acquisition enables Sanoma to service consumers directly and help business partners realising their conversion objectives.

The new partnership between Sanoma and SB Commerce will also be materialised on Dutch TV. During the holiday season, the SBS television channels will feature a campaign that enables viewers to shop directly through the SBS second screens.
